The support of Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 makes it even better. It enhances contrast, improves sharpness and reduces noise. It has the ability to deliver great visual experience. The large and responsive touchscreen allows you to execute various tasks easily. Its virtual keyboard has enough space even for fat fingers so you can type comfortably. As a protection, Corning Gorilla Glass is applied to the screen. Other supporting features are Multitouch up to 10 fingers, Accelerometer sensor, Gyroscope, and Proximity sensor.

Sony Xperia SP runs on Android v4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system.  A dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait processor is planted inside the phone and paired with Adreno 320 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. The Xperia SP works in decent speed. Apps can load properly and there is no serious lag when you switch menus. The phone also offers faster data connection with the presence of 4G LTE support. If you like to download videos or take a lot of photos, you might need more than  8 GB of internal storage (with only 5.8 GB user available). But that’s not a problem since the Xperia SP includes memory card slot for storage expansion.

The main 8 MP rear camera has a lot of supporting features, including Sony’s Exmor RS image sensor, autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, HDR, sweep panorama, face and smile detection, image stabilization, and HD video recording capability with video stabilization. The Xperia SP also has a front-facing VGA camera that can be used for video calling.

Setup guide

The first time you start your device, a setup guide opens to explain basic functions and help you enter essential settings. This is a good time to configure the device to your specific needs. You can also access the setup guide later from the settings menu.

To access the setup guide manually:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Menu
  2. Tap Settings > Setup guide.

Performing factory data reset

To avoid permanent damage to your device, do not restart your device while a reset procedure is underway.

  1. From your Home screen, tap Menu.
  2. Find and tap Settings > Backup & reset.
  3. Tap Factory data reset.
  4. If you also want to erase data such as pictures and music, which is saved to your device’s internal storage, mark the Erase internal storage checkbox.
  5. Tap Reset phone.
  6. To confirm, tap Erase everything.
