How to Avoid Damaging Cell Phone Battery

Maintaining good battery life is one of the smartphone users’ major concerns nowadays. Smartphones get more sophisticated but they also consume more power. Unlike the more conventional cell phones that can last for few days, you may need to charge your smartphones once or twice a day. With wrong treatments, the battery can lose power faster than we expected and that can be very frustrating. It doesn’t only affect your productivity, but also can cost you some money to buy the new one. So, what can we do to prevent the battery from breaking down and having a shorter lifespan than it should? Here are some suggestions:

make cellphone battery last longer

1. Use quality accessories for your smartphones. In this case, official chargers and cables are the best ones. They are specially designed to meet your phone’s specifications and have good safety standards. You may use other alternatives as long as they are certified or come from reputable manufacturers. You also need to ensure that the charger you buy is compatible with your phone’s specifications. Cross-check the amp or watt rating.

2. Do not let the phone battery completely discharge. Avoid charging the battery from 0 percent up to 100 percent too often. It is related to the charge cycles ( a condition where the battery goes from empty or near-empty to full). Every battery has a limited number of charge cycles, and when the number is high the battery will eventually degrade.

3. Keep the battery between 50 and 80 percent is a good way to get longer battery life. The ideal spot for Lithium-ion battery is between 50 and 80 percent. The ions still have enough energy to continue working, while the life of the battery can be protected. You may need to charge the phone more frequently, but it is considered healthier for the battery than one daily charge up.

4. Prevent the phone from overheating. Elevated temperatures can cause damaging effect to Lithium-ion batteries. It will cause cell oxidation, thus shorten the battery lifespan. To avoid overheating, you can take the phone case off if you’re going to leave the phone plugged in at night.
