It doesn’t offer superb quality but it is fine for daily use. The touchscreen is quite responsive and easy to use. You can use it with your fingernails or even when you wear gloves. It is equipped with basic features like mutitouch support, accelerometer, and proximity sensor. To protect it from serious damage, the screen is polished with scratch-resistant glass.

The Lumia 520 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8 operating system, but it is upgradeable to v8.1. It works pretty smoothly and shows good responsiveness. The dual-core 1 GHz processor provides enough power to make everything runs well in this phone. The processor itself is backed by Adreno 305 GPU and 512 MB of RAM. The Lumia 520 offers respectable storage space with 8 GB inside. It also includes memory card slot (supports up to 64 GB) so you can expand the storage capacity. A modest 5 MP rear camera does a good job in taking still pictures and videos. It has some supporting features like autofocus,  1/4” sensor size, geo-tagging, and video recording capability (720p@30fps). Nokia Lumia 520 doesn’t include front-facing camera that can be used for selfies or video calling.
