Microsoft Lumia 540 Dual SIM Review: A Selfie Phone with Decent Specs & Performance

Body and Display

Microsoft Lumia 540 is a beautiful Windows phone with affordable price. It has a lot to offer including good design, decent specifications and interesting features. It’s slim and lightweight. It has slightly curved corners which make it more ergonomic. You can operate the phone with one hand but it’s still more comfortable to use two hands when typing. The back cover looks glossy and somehow you can easily leave fingerprints on it. It also feels a bit slippery. However, this issue can be resolved if you use additional soft case or protection case.

The Lumia 540 comes with a lovely 5.0″ IPS LCD display. It has a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and 294 ppi pixel density. It looks pretty sharp and crisp. The ClearBlack display technology is there to enhance the visual quality. You can manage the brightness according to your needs. You can also view various contents in wider viewing angles, so it’s quite fun. The responsive touchscreen allows you to navigate through menus easier. The onscreen keyboard has good accuracy and it’s very spacious.

Size of the phone: 144 x 73.7 x 8.6 mm (5.67 x 2.90 x 0.34 in)

Weight: 152 g (5.36 oz)

It’s also backed by Adreno 302 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. Everything works well in this phone. The Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 (Lumia Denim) operating system runs so smooth. It feels responsive when you switch menus. It doesn’t take much time to launch apps. Multitasking is an easy thing to do. You can write documents and browse the internet at the same time without any problem or serious delay.

Battery life is satisfactory. The 2200 mAh battery provides enough power through the day. It can last about 10 hours for normal usage. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have quick-charging feature. The internal storage is a bit limited since the Lumia 540 only has 8 GB of internal storage. To store more files (documents, photos, videos), you should add external memory card. It supports microSD card up to 128 GB. The 30 GB of free online OneDrive storage could also be an advantage.
